ATTIC

atticattic2Your attic is a great way to start saving money. It's a fact that heat rises and when looking at adding insulation most people think of adding more to what they already have. If you have to add 6" of insulation to what you already have, that must mean that you're losing heat through the existing 6". So why would you want to put more of a material that only slows down heat loss/gain on top? By installing Low-E Insulation under your rafters you're stopping the heat gain in the summer as well as helping to keep it in during the winter months. This also helps in areas where ice damming is a bad problem. Ice damming occurs when the snow on a roof melts at a rapid rate, the moisture then wicks under the roofing material only to freeze yet again. Ice and water shields only patch a problem. Low-E helps solve it! Low-E stops heat gain/loss! Unlike mass insulations Low-E will not absorb heat, it will reflect it. One layer of Low-E under your attic rafters will reflect the heat that is rising from your living area. The insulation will slow the melting process down which could help save your roof and add a few years to your Hampton Roads property.

You can run Low-E across the face of your studs or tab it in, either way you're going to get a very energy efficient design.

ROOFING

When people think of a roofing underlayment they most likely will picture asphalt felt paper. ESP has revolutionized the roofing industry by introducing the first underlayment that will actually work for the homeowner. Therma Sheet acts as not only an underlayment that will not absorb moisture but also as an insulator. Weighing only 18 lbs the 500 sq.ft. rolls are very easy to install. Installed correctly it will seal around fasteners, provide a complete vapor barrier, and stop radiant heat gain/loss. It can also be left exposed when "drying out" time is needed. No other underlayment can offer this much for the price. Homeowners will be placing a product on their roof that will pay for itself by saving them money on utility bills. While most underlayments will deteriorate over time Therma Sheet well laid down by the contractor will last the life of your roofing system.

HOUSEWRAP

housewrapESP Low-E™ Housewrap is just what builders have been looking for. A housewrap that does more than simply stop drafts. A pure aluminum facing is heat bonded to one or both sides of closed cell polyethylene foam, then the product is pin perforated. This results in a housewrap that acts not only as a superior air infiltration barrier, effectively sealing up cracks or gaps in the external sheathing, but it also adds insulation to the exterior of the home blocking up to 97% of radiant heat. This results in better year round efficiency and comfort levels. Also unlike other housewraps or insulating products that are traditionally used, Low-E™ Housewrap is totally non-toxic, and its performance is not affected by initial exposure to the elements. This product is available in 4' x 125' rolls that weigh only about 20lbs, 5’ product is available through special order. Installation is a breeze, using only a staple gun and razor knife.

CRAWL SPACE

crawl_spaceLow-E can be used under your floor in a crawlspace to stop any air infiltration and add high insulating value to your floors. In a crawlspace application Low-E can achieve as high as an R-20. Low-E will not mold, mildew or absorb moisture, so once it's installed there is virtually no maintenance involved.

In areas where flooding is a problem Low-E will eliminate the concern of your insulation system performing below average.
